Milan is the new direct flight from Skopje — shopping, art and cuisine just two hours away. Here is what you need to know before you book.

Skopje – Milan flight (direct, Wizz Air)

  • Direct, non-stop flight — duration 2 hours (departures 18:10–18:50 depending on the day)
  • 4 flights a week (Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday)

The flight lands at Milan Bergamo (Orio al Serio, BGY) — about 50–60 minutes by bus from central Milan, which is standard for low-cost routes.

Visa and documents

Macedonian citizens travel to Italy visa-free for short stays of up to 90 days in any 180-day period, but the visa-free regime applies only to holders of a biometric passport (Regulation (EU) 2018/1806, Annex II). Macedonia has issued biometric passports since April 2007, so every valid Macedonian passport today is biometric. The passport must be valid for at least three months after the intended date of departure from the Schengen area (Regulation (EU) 2016/399, Article 6).

Getting to the centre

From Bergamo Airport (BGY) to Milan’s main station Milano Centrale:

  • Direct buses (Terravision, Orio Shuttle, Autostradale) — ~50–60 minutes, running every 20–30 minutes
  • Taxi — ~45–60 minutes, but significantly more expensive

  • Duomo Cathedral — the third-largest church in Europe, the symbol of the city
  • Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II — the historic shopping gallery right next to the Duomo
  • Santa Maria delle Grazie — home to Leonardo’s “The Last Supper” (book ahead!)
  • Sforza Castle (Castello Sforzesco) and Sempione Park
  • Navigli district — canals, restaurants and nightlife

Day trips

  • Lake Como — train from Milan, ~40 minutes to Como
  • Città Alta, Bergamo — the medieval old town above the airport, 15 minutes away
  • Verona — ~1.5 hours by train, the city of Romeo and Juliet

When to go

Milan is a year-round destination. Spring and autumn are best for sightseeing. In winter the city is famous for strong sales (January), and fashion weeks take place in autumn and spring.
