The winter season schedule runs from 25 October 2026 to 27 March 2027. Here's which airlines are cutting flights from Skopje and Ohrid, and why overall growth continues.
The winter flight schedule runs from 25 October 2026 to 27 March 2027. Every winter some airlines trim their frequencies compared to summer — here’s what’s actually happening to routes from Skopje and Ohrid.
Who is cutting back
Turkish Airlines is reducing its Skopje frequency from 14 to 12 weekly flights for the winter. The same revision also trims Podgorica, Priština and Zagreb, and suspends the Tivat route.
Wizz Air ends the Bratislava–Ohrid route on 22 October 2026 — the route had originally been planned to operate through the winter, so anyone who booked expecting it to keep flying should check their booking.
Across the wider former-Yugoslav market, the largest winter reductions come from Ryanair (−225,092 seats) and Turkish Airlines (−75,029 seats).
Growth is still the bigger picture
Despite these cuts, the wider picture for Skopje remains one of growth: the airport has 414,412 scheduled seats in October 2026, up 19.6% on October 2025. All of that increase comes from Wizz Air (+90,348 seats, +50.1%), while all other carriers combined cut 13.5%.
What is not yet known
TAV Macedonia had not yet published its own release on the winter 2026/27 schedule as of this article. If you are travelling during the winter months, the most reliable source for the exact schedule is the airport’s own flight search or your agency — don’t expect a full destination list here, since it has not been confirmed.
What this means for you
When frequencies are trimmed, the available seats concentrate on fewer days of the week. That’s not a reason to panic, but it is a practical reason to book earlier, especially if you’re planning travel on a specific date during the winter period.
A reduced frequency doesn’t mean a route disappears — it means the same number of passengers need to fit onto fewer flights, which makes the remaining departures busier. This applies especially to routes affected by the Turkish Airlines revision, where choosing the right date matters more than before. If you already hold a booking on the Bratislava–Ohrid route after 22 October 2026, check it directly with the airline, since the route’s cancellation means you’ll need an alternative arrangement for that trip.
