Ohrid Airport's record July: +41% passengers, new historic highs

Ohrid St. Paul the Apostle Airport posted its strongest July ever — 52,544 passengers (+41%), despite ongoing terminal reconstruction.

Ohrid St. Paul the Apostle Airport recorded its strongest July ever — 41% growth in passenger numbers, while the terminal reconstruction is still underway. Here is what the numbers mean for passengers.

July records

  • 52,544 passengers in July — +41.21% versus July 2025
  • 443 flights+34.65% more than last year
  • 26 July — busiest day in the airport’s history: 2,988 passengers
  • 20 July — record 22 flights in a single day

From January to July, Ohrid Airport served 175,182 passengers in total (+24.24%), with 1,350 flights (+28.69%).

Macedonia among Europe’s fastest growers

Skopje and Ohrid together served 2.4 million passengers in the first seven months (+28.4%). According to the latest ACI Europe report for the first half of 2026, North Macedonia is the leader among non-EU+ countries in passenger traffic growth (+27.9%) — ahead of Moldova (+21%) and Albania (+17.2%). Skopje Airport is ranked among the fastest-growing medium-sized airports in Europe (+28.6%).

Reconstruction does not stop traffic

The ongoing terminal modernization (€2.7 million investment) increases the building from 290 to 746 square metres. According to TAV Macedonia, despite the extensive construction activity, flight operations and passenger services continue on schedule, without interruption.

  • More routes and frequencies — the new destinations (Wroclaw from Ohrid, among others) are already operating and bringing passengers
  • A better terminal — once reconstruction is complete, an expanded and more modern facility is expected
