Wizz Air flies Skopje–Palermo three times a week during the summer season. Here's a guide to Sicily's capital — sights, visa requirements and getting to the centre.
Palermo, the capital of Sicily, joined the summer flight network from Skopje in 2026 — together with Alghero. Here’s a guide for next summer season.
Skopje – Palermo flight
Wizz Air flies Skopje–Palermo three times a week — every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. The first flight was on 15 July 2026. This is a seasonal route: in the 2026 summer season it operated until 11 September 2026. For next summer, check the current timetable with us or with the airline before you book.
Palermo — gateway to western Sicily
Palermo is the capital of Sicily, on the island’s north-west coast, and the gateway to western Sicily.
In the city itself, worth seeing are the Palermo Cathedral and the Palazzo dei Normanni with the Cappella Palatina, the historic markets Ballarò and Vucciria, and the city beach at Mondello. A short trip out of town is the cathedral at Monreale with its mosaics.
Beyond Palermo
From Palermo you can reach the rest of western Sicily — Cefalù, Segesta, Erice, and further south the Valley of the Temples at Agrigento. Getting around outside the city is easiest with a car or an organised excursion.
Airport and getting to the centre
The airport is Palermo Falcone–Borsellino (PMO). Between the airport and the city there is a dedicated rail link to Palermo Centrale and a shuttle bus service. Travel times and fares change and vary by season, so check the airport’s official website before you travel.
Visa and documents
Macedonian citizens travel to Italy visa-free for short stays of up to 90 days in any 180-day period, but the visa-free regime applies only to holders of a biometric passport (Regulation (EU) 2018/1806, Annex II). Macedonia has issued biometric passports since April 2007, so every valid Macedonian passport today is biometric. The passport must be valid for at least three months after the intended date of departure from the Schengen area (Regulation (EU) 2016/399, Article 6). The EES Entry/Exit System is now in operation at Schengen borders.
